The role and duties include:

1. Processing and preparation of cold and hot meals, finger food, buffets, sit-down meals and other events hosted in the German Ambassador's residence

2. Serving of food and beverages

3. Consideration of food intolerance

4. Maintenance and observing of cleanliness, sanitation of food, ingredients, equipment, food storage, work areas

5. Procurement of the necessary products, organizing sufficient storage of food, ingredients, kitchen supplies

6. Event management of the residence (preparation, support and conducting of events of various kinds as Major Domus)

7. Supervision of waiters, kitchen helpers

8. Equipment management in the official part of the residence (floral decoration, table decoration, billing/invoice management)

9. Assisting in maintenance activities in the Residence (official part) as assigned (e.g., determining and communication the demand to renew / repair / procure material, supplies)

10. Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

The main tasks and duties for this position will be related to the activities as a chef.

Applicants should fulfill the following qualifications and requirements:

- Experience in cooking (European, Oriental, International Cuisine)

- In possession of reference letter of previous employers

- Knowledge of and ability to safely and effectively prepare meals

- Knowledge of and strict adherence to food safety and hygiene

- Good English and Arabic language skills

- Flexibility and responsibility regarding working hours also during the weekend or after office hours

- Organizational and communication skills, multi-tasking

- Accounting skills (billing, management of budget for purchases)

- Owning his/her own vehicle is recommendable (to cover the distance from home to the place of work)

The Embassy is offering an appropriate salary with a contract based on Lebanese Labor Law. Please note that this is initially a one-year fixed-term contract that can be extended if both parties agree. The first three months are a probationary period. Non-Lebanese applicants must possess a valid residence permit and work permit for Lebanon.
