The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Beirut is seeking a full-time driver

The German Embassy in Beirut is seeking the services of an experienced driver for its fleet of official vehicles to start 20. March 2025 for a period of 3 months (fixed-term contract, 45 h per week).
The role, duties and obligations include:
1. Drive staff members and visitors of the German Embassy as well as delegations from Germany
2. Assist with logistical arrangements for official events, delegations and special missions
3. Coordinate with import / export authorities and companies (airport, port) for customs clearance
4. Perform tasks related to the Embassy’s diplomatic registrations (vehicles) and accreditations as well as maintain working relations with the Lebanese authorities (e.g. Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
5. Care and service of embassy’s fleet of vehicles: Ensure that the official vehicles are in a good, clean and safe condition (maintenance, check-ups)
6. Transport, deliver or collect equipment and documents, assist in purchases and obtain quotations from suppliers, do errands and deliveries upon instruction of duly authorized staff members
7. Adhere to local traffic laws and Embassy’s guidelines
Applicants should fulfill the following qualifications and requirements:
- Is physically and mentally fit for performing duties as a professional driver
- Has worked in at least 2 related positions with the relevant references
- Has good command of Arabic and English / French (knowledge of German is an advantage)
- Has technical knowledge of basic automotive technology
- Holds a valid and unrestricted Lebanese driving license
- Is well presented with manners commensurate with working for the German Embassy
- Is a team player who is willing to assume all types of tasks
- Good knowledge of Beirut and its surroundings as well as Lebanon
- Has no previous criminal or driving convictions
- Flexibility and responsibility regarding working hours also during the weekend, after office hours and occasional during vacation days (overtime compensation will be granted)
- Experience in working with local authorities (customs, ministries, airport) is an advantage
- Organizational and communication skills, multi-tasking
The Embassy is offering an appropriate salary with a contract based on Lebanese Labor Law.
Please note that at this stage this will be a three-months-fixed-term contract. If there will be the option for a possible extension or a new contract for an initial period of one year will be decided at a later stage.
Non-Lebanese applicants must possess a valid residence permit and work permit for Lebanon as well as a valid and unrestricted driving license for Lebanon.
